Escape to Estonia for a day

Käytiin Sunnuntaina naapurimaassa vierailulla siskon kanssa. Päivä meni laivamatkalla, shoppaillen ja syömällä, ja oli kaiken kaikkeaan tosi onnistunut! Aamulla herätys soi ihan liian aikasin ennen seitsemää jotta ehdittiin yhdeksältä lähtevään Eckero-linen laivaan Länsisatamaan. Mukaan mulle lähti vetolaukku, johon sai sitte laitettuu ainaki osa päivän shoppailuista. 

On Sunday my sister and I took a little trip to Estonia! It's really easy to go there for a day and many Finns do that; we go there to shop clothes and cheap alcohol. And I think it's so fun to go there by a ship. The atmosphere is great (except this time I was really tired because we had to wake up before seven to catch the ship at 9) and it gives a little travel feeling with minimum money; you can get a ticket Helsinki-Tallinn and back for about 20-40 euros. We sat at the bar watching old people dance (and there were a lot of old folks, I had no idea they liked to go on cruises) and then we took some pictures our at the deck! It was so windy out there.

Laivamatkalla oli paljon mummoja ja vaareja, jotka tanssahteli baarissa johonki ihmeen tangomusiikkiin. En tiennykkään että vanhukset käy noilla Tallinnan päiväristeilyillä, mutta ilmeisesti tää on yleistä; ei siellä paljon meidän ikäsiä näkyny. Paitsi pari alaikästä, nukkuen, ja selvästi menossa juomia ostamaan. Sitten siellä oli vartija, joka kävi tökkimässä ihmisiä  jos ne nukkui, eli sääntönä on ei saa nukkua :D Iha sika tyhmää musta, eiks ihmiset saa nukkuakaan enää missä haluu. Itteäki nukutti hirveesti kun laivamatka on sellaset 2 ja puol tuntii, eikä siellä oikeen voi tehdä mitään kun pitää vartioida kamoja. 

Oli ihanaa kun vihdoin alkoi Viro näkymään ja päästiin satamaan, mistä lähdettiin heti vaatekaupoille. Tuli shoppailtua. Käytiin ne perus kaupat siitä läpi; Bershka (tää kauppa nyt heti Suomeen), Pull and Bear, pari muuta joita en muista, ja sitten se ostoskeskus. Syömässä käytiin nostalgisesti Vapianossa, missä mä oon ainaki syöny suunnilleen joka Vironreissulla. Vaikka se on nyt Helsingissäkin. Jotenkin Viron Vapiano on paljon parempi kun tää Suomen. Siellä on sellanen kaikki-suomalaise-turistit-on-täällä- fiilis. Muutenkin musta Vapiano on tosi hyvin hinnoteltu, ja en oo ikinä saanu siellä pahaa ruokaa. Ne on keksiny ton korttihomman, että kaikki maksut kerätään yhdelle kortille ja sitten lopuks maksetaan koko juttu. Ja huhhuh ku oli nii hyvää ruokaa tälki kertaa ettei mitää rajaa.

When we arrived in Tallinn we headed straight to the clothing stores, surprisingly. They have a few great store we don't have here in Finland; my favorite; Bershka, Pull and Bear, and a lot of others that I can't recall the name of. It's fun to shop there, because we really don't have that stuff here and that also means that not everyone has the same clothes that you have. I really loved all the bags and jackets they had, but the jackets were all close to a hundred euros, so I had to think carefully what to buy.

After all that shopping we took a break and had lunch at Vapiano, which is this great Italian place that we also have here in Helsinki. Every time I go to Tallinn I pretty much eat there; it's just so good every single time. I've never been disappointed to go there. And you can actually stand there and watch them make your food, then you "load" the costs on this card they give you, and when you leave you pay everything. It's a clever thing, and I think it's one of the reasons why it's such a popular place.

Kaupoista lähti mukaan Pull and Bearin laukku, mikä on sellanen täydellinen sininen, salkkutyylinen ilmestys, jonne mahtuu koulukirjojakin. Ja kuulemma oli "tosi muntyylinen". Miks muuten kaikki mun tutut osaa aina nii hyvin sanoa, mikä on muntyylinen? Sitten ostin Bershkasta vähän riskillä mustan maksimekon, jossa on alla lyhyempi mekko ja päällä sellanen läpikuultava kangas. Toivottavasti löydän sille käyttöä, koska oon ettiny vähän sen tyylistä jo kauan. Jostain löysin myös nahkapaidan ja pari korua, minkä jälkeen päätin että nyt riittää rahantuhlaus. Kerranki tuntui että löytyi hyvin kamaa, vaikka yleensä se menee niin että kun lähtee ettimään vaatteita ja on rahaa käytössä, niin ei löydä mitään. Sitten kun rahat on loppu löytyy yhtäkkiä vaikka mitä. Nyt oli ilmeisimmin poikkeustilanne! 

Bershka is one of my favorite stores in the whole world!  I find something from there every time I go. They have different clothes that stand out, but also the normal stuff. It's not a very expensive store, but some of the jackets and dresses can cost a little more than in like H&M. We don't have this store in Finland, so it's one of the main reasons I'm so excited to visit Estonia ;) If you guys have never heard of it, you should definitely check it out! It's a Spanish clothing line, so everything is really small and when I go there I usually buy clothes 1-2 sizes bigger than I usually do.

Onkohan Viron suurin elinkeino suomalaiset shoppaajat. Tai vaan minä ja mun sisko.

Alkossakin oli tietenkin pakko käyda, kun kerrankin saa juomia halvalla. Itse nappasin parit liköörit ja yhen lavan, sommersbytä. Se on nii hirveen kallista suomessa, että on tullu mulle harvinaiseks herkuks. Sielläkin oli suomalaisia joka puolella, kiirehtimässä laivaan, sekoilemassa ja ettimässä nopeesti haluamiaan viinejä ja tupakkaa, ja jonot oli sen mukaset. Kumma juttu oli että alkossa - kun ostettii vaikka mitä - ei kysytty henkkareita. Mut sitte Vapianossa ostaa yhen siiderin ja heti kysytään. Logiikka on tässä paikallaan. 

Sitte Vapianossa mun passille annettiin taas vaihteeks sellanen siristelevä ja epäilevä ilmeen kurtistus, että onkohan tää nyt sinä tässä passissa. Oon saanu sitä nii monta kertaa vaikka ja missä; baarien ovilla, kaupoissa. Ihanku pystyisin sille jotain tekemään, että saan ajokortin vasta kohta ja mulla on tää passi käytössä. Ehkä mulla on vähä babyface ku en näytä vanhalta. 

We bought these on the way back to Finland. Mine was so good and it had this little sparkly light ice-cube in it. Points for that.

Here are some of the things I ended up buying on the trip! That leather t-shirt is amazing, I love it love it love it. Then I needed some jewelry to go also. I also bought a black maxi dress, which was a little risky considering that it's pretty bold, but I hope I can find occasions to wear that. I really like it thought, so it was worth it. Maybe I'll just wear it at home or something :D Finally I bought this gorgeous bag from Pull and Bear that fits my school stuff but at the same time it's really me and not boring at all. I've been meaning to buy something different than just my kånken-back bag and my normal black purse, and now I found just the right one. 

Toivottavasti pääsen kohta uudelleen Viroilemaan ;) Risteilyjä ei oo nytte varmaan lähiaikoina tulossa, ens vuoden puolella tulossa kakkosristely Ruotsiin, saa nyt nähä mitä siitäki tulee. Nyt on ainaki vuoden juomat ostettu ja rahaa säästetty. Ja kulutettu.

I hope I'll get to go to Estonia again soon! And also it would be awesome to get to travel somewhere a little further.... 

writing issues

Hitsi kun oon jo pitkään halunnu mennä kuvaamaan ihan pelkkää syksymetsää, mutta aina jotenki päädyn kuvailemaan asuja. On niin ihmeen nättii joka puolel ja koulun ikkunasta vaan näkee keltasta ja vihreetä ja punasta. Oioi. 

7 päivän antibioottikuurilla - jos nyt vihdoin paranisi. Lääkärissä ne katto kummasti ja kysyi että olinko käynyt siellä heinäkuussa. Sanoin että juu olin jo sillon kipee. Johan tuli pillereitä ja äkkiä :-D Tää on mun eka antibioottikuuri, onko väärin olla vähän innostunut? Valitettavasti ei näytä lääkkeet toimivan hirveen hyvin, tällanen perus inhottava flunssa on näköjään hirveen vaikeeta saada pois. 

Oon muuten miettiny jo kauan et vois kirjottaa jotain hesarin mielipidesivuille, siellä on aina niin paljon kaikkea mikä mua ärsyttää sydämen pohjasta. Ois ihana saada oma mielipide kuuluville, ja todistaa että nuoretkin osaa kirjottaa tärkeistä asioista (oon nimittäin aika varma että meitä aliarvoidaan koko ajan tässä asiassa). No, ei oo löytyny mitään hyvää aihetta, mutta tänään löyty yks josta aloin kunnolla kirjottamaan, ja nyt se vaatii vaan pientä viimeistelyy. Ois varmaan maailman paras fiilis nähdä oma tekstinsä jossain ihan lehdessä! 

Muutenkin vähän harmittaa kun kirjottaminen on jäänyt lähiaikoina tosi vähälle - ennen kirjotin ainakin kerran viikossa kunnolla jotain juttua, ja mun kone pullistelee kaikkea tekstiä. Oli se sitten jotain asiallista, jotain vittuilua tai ihan vaan tarinaa. Runojakin löytyy, mut niitä en enää tee, ei ollu ihan mun juttu. Liian hipsteriä mun makuun. Varmaan johtuu osittain tästä mun blogin muodonmuutoksesta että kirjottaminen on vähentyny; ennen se oli vähän niinkun mun mielipiteiden paikka, nyt täällä löytyy enemmän muotiin liittyvää juttua. Sinänsä kivaa, mutta pitäsköhän mun tehdä toinen blogi johon saan näitä tekstejä ängettyä? Ehkä. Siinä olisi vaan paljon ylläpitämistä ja hommaa :/ Sanokaa jos on jotain ehotuksii tähän!

I don't wear these a lot because I don't really like heels - my opinion is that they're sort of an idiotic invention and the world would do fine without them. However, they do look nice so I've given up on my strict opinion. These are comfortably, and not high at all, so perfect for me. What comes to my clothes, I don't necessarily always need them to be comfortable, but from shoes I definitely expect that. 

Ihanaa tää lehtien heittely kun käsiin tulee koirankusta. Uuupsis.

Don't do this at home - I grabbed a bunch of leaves off the ground and threw them into the air, then I noticed my hands were in dog pee. Yay. Why didn't anyone warn me? 

I finally got antibiotics for my sickness, which is just a cold that's been lasting for.... what, 3 months soon. I don't think a normal person has an immune system that's working this poorly. Mine should really catch up with killing the bacteria. Don't you just hate being a little sick for a long time? I would rather be really sick for a couple of days. Even thought it would be hard, at least it wouldn't come on the way of school and personal life as much as being sick all the time does! 

I've been wanting to write something for the Helsingin Sanomat - newspaper in the opinion side. They have normal people writing stuff about life they think should change, or something that's good, or whatever they find interesting in the society. I haven't had the time to actually write anything lately - I've been so busy with posting fashion stuff on my blog. Today I finally found a topic I wanted to write about, now I just have to finish it and send it to Helsingin Sanomat and see if they publish it. They have many many texts so it might not get to the actual newspaper, but it would be amazing if it did. 

Anyway I haven't written as much stuff as I used to - my computer is full of texts about issues as well as taking-my-frustration-out texts that I used to write. There are poems too, I used to be into them :-D Not anymore really. But I used to have another blog full of my opinions, after I started this fashion one. I can't really write anything here anymore, so I don't know what to do about it. Maybe I should start another blog, just for writing? I don't know. It would be more work.

I'm glad it's Friday and I can just go to bed right now. And sleep. On Sunday I'll be going to Estonia with my sister and I'm really excited about that! There will probably be pictures too. Everyone have a great weekend once again! :)

Ihana biisi aviciilta, Hey Brother. Soitan tätä 24/7. Ai ku ihanaa että on perjantai ja voi vaan mennä aikasin nukkuu (ainaki semi aikasin) ja aamulla vaan jäädä sänkyyn makoilee niin kauaks aikaa kun haluaa. Sunnuntaina ois pieni päiväreissu Viroon siskon kaa, vähän shoppailua tiedossa ja mut tuntien todennäköisesti järkkäri sielläkin messissä! Hyvät viikonloput kaikille :)

the last sunlight

En ole pitkään aikaan ollut kuvailemassa kaverin kanssa, joten tänään käytiin Saran kanssa ottamassa viimeisiä valosan ajan kuvia. Sää oli niin ihana tänää ettei voinut tuhlata mahista, ja muutenki kuvaaminen ulkona on varmaan mun yksiä lemppari ajanvietto-tapoja. Kumminki parin viikon päästä on nii kylmä, ettei ulos haluu vapaaehtosesti mennä ellei oo kunnon pari takkii ja muutama huivi päällä.

Eilen olin pitkästä aikaa Turussa käymässä, tällä kertaa syynä oli YFU:n syyspäivät. Puhun nykyään YFU:sta koko ajan täällä yfu sitä yfu tätä. Sehän on siis vaihto-oppilasjärjestö, jonka kautta olin vaihdossa viime vuonna, ja nyt teen vapaaehtostyötä niille. Eilen keskusteltiin esim. viestinnästä ja miten sosiaalista mediaa voitaisiin käyttää yfulla ja muuta sellasta. Illalla lähdin junalla kotiinpäin, ja mulla oli varmaan koko elämäni tiukin junaan ehtimisen tilanne; juoksin sinne raiteelle pari minuuttia ennen kuin juna lähti stadiin päi. Huhhu mitkä paineet oli ajaa sinne; joku tarjoutu heittämään mut asemalle, melkeen loppu bensat ja mä vaan tuskailen kun juna lähtee viiden minuutin päästä ja ei olla vielä edes asemalla. 

Onneksi sitten ehdin ja pääsin himaan vaikka piti kävellä vähän epäilyttävän Espoon keskuksen (huomasin että siellä on hirveesti kummia tyyppejä joskus yheksältä lauantai illalla) läpi josta mun sisko haki mut. Rento ilta sitten sipsien ja limun kanssa leffaa kattellen.

Usually camera only likes me when I'm smiling, so I'm glad to see I can pull of a serious face in pictures too. I know so many people who can just stare somewhere and it looks great in pictures. Lets just say I'm not one of those people.

I love these shoes! I've had them a couple years already, but lately I've started liking them more and more. They go great with the famous Finnish weather - cold.

I haven't had a chance to go and take pictures outside with a friend in a long time. Today was an exceptionally good day for photography; a great weather and even a little bit of sunlight. I know that soon it'll be freezing out there, so I didn't want to waste the opportunity to go out now. There are some yellow and brown leaves already, and I sort of matched with them. I didn't plans my clothes that way, but I was glad to notice my colors went good with the nature. It was fun to take pictures with my friend Sara, thanks for coming with me! I don't know how I will be able to make good posts later, when I need to wear like two coats and a bunch of scarfs and hats. Truly fashionable. I just get cold easily... people ask me how I can live in Finland and still get cold everywhere. Eternal mystery. 

Yesterday I made a little trip in Turku, for YFU:s fall event. I had to wake up at 6 AM ( which for me is like the end of the world and I walk around like a zombie without coffee) and I came back at night by train. I barely made it to my train - literally as I ran in the train started moving. Too much excitement for me.

Tomorrow's plan; school, school and a driving lesson. And possibly some ice cream and sleeping.

break on Wednesday

Huh nyt on kaikki kokeet takana! Tänään alkoi uusi jakso, joitain hirveitä opettajii, mutta ihan mukavantuntuisia ryhmiä. Opiskelun riemu jatkukoon. 

Ensimmäinen pitkän ruotsin tunti yli vuoteen tuntui tänään tosi hämmeltävältä ja masentavalta - "ollaanksme muka käyty tää" oli koko tunnin mun mielessä. Onneksi en taida olla ainoa jolla on tällaset fiilikset. Tuntuu vähän, että kaikki mun koululaiset sanoo olevansa huonoi ruotsissa. Ehkä meille on vaan laitettu vähän liian korkeet odotukset? Mulle ruotsi on ollu pakkopullaa siitä asti kun sen nelosella alotin, enkä ikinä ole kokenut oppivani paljoa. Osaksi se on varmaan omasta motivaatiosta kiinni. Kuitenkin ala-asteella olin ihan yhtä huono enkussa, mutta yläasteella enkku yhtäkkiä alkoi tuntumaan helpolta, kun taas ruotsi vaikeni entisestään. Mietin vaan että mistä tää johtuu, onko se sitten se "pakkoruotsi" nimitys vai ihan nuorten laiskuus, että monilla ruotsin kielen opiskelu ei vaan suju. Nyt pitää vaan yrittää parhaansa, äsken onnittelin itseäni kun suomensin lyhyen ruotsin kappaleen 40 minuutissa. Tästä se lähtee se opiskelu! 

Olin tiistaina haastattelemassa uusia vaihtareita jotka oli lähössä ulkomaille, ja vähän jännitti siinä kun selasin lappusia ja yritin muistaa että mitä niiltä nyt pitikään kysyä. Sellasia asioita kun "kuka teillä tekee kotityöt" "millaset suhteet sulla on perheeseen" "miten sopeudut uusiin tilanteisiin" ja niin edellee. On niin outo ajatus, että joku on nyt lähdössä vaihtoon. Ja kohta ne kokee kaikkee upeeta ja kaikkee paskaa. Mut on kivaa olla osana niiden lähtöä. Harmi vaan, että ne kaikki halus mennä jenkkeihin mutta yhtään paikkaa ei ollu jäljellä, oli tilaa mennä vaan jonnekki Etelä-Amerikkaan. Eihän siinä mitään vikaa mutta itse en ehkä lähtisi.  

En oo hirveesti kuvailemaan jaksanut, koska vilkaskaa tota säätä. Hirrveen kylmä :-) Eilen menin Saran kanssa Bada Bingiin (vaikka on keskiviikko, mutta kokeet loppu nii pakko vähän juhlistaa) parille ja oli mukava ilta. Tänään on kyllä ollut väsymys päällä ja voin syyttää vain itseäni. Ja uutta jaksoa.

All the exams are finally over - and I think I'm safe to say that I didn't fail anything. At least not too badly. 

Today the new period started, with new teachers (some of them are nice, others... not so much) and new people. I'm excited about my English writing class, I could really use some practice in that area.  It's going to be a hard few months now at school, because I need to keep up with a lot of stuff. For example I haven't studied Swedish in more than a years, and I'm worried because that's always been my weakest link (this is another mandatory language you have to study in Finland, another one is English). And then there's math, which I need to work on. But I think everything will go ok, if I just focus the little energy I have during the winter time, in these things. 

On Tuesday I was interviewing new exchange students at the YFU office. I just had to ask them some questions like "what would you do if you failed on something" "Who does the chores in your home" "Why do you want to go to an exchange" and so on. This was all to find out if they were prepared to go somewhere for a year, and also to see what kind of host family would be a good fit for them. It's cool to be a part of making other people's exchange year happen. 

Yesterday my friend and I went to a bar here in Tapiola. We were supposed to go see this gig but then it got really late and we decided to leave early... But all and all a fun night! I had found some great clothes from my closet when I cleaned it the other day, like that yellow shirt from Charlotte Russe that I haven't worn in for ages!  It's funny how I can forget what I have...  If you need new clothes, just poor all of your clothes on the floor. Most likely you will find something wearable and be pleasantly surprised :-D
